BG Points shared at Batakan Stadium in BG Pathum United’s Shopee Cup starter!

21 August 2024, Batakan Stadium, Indonesia. BG Pathum United face PSM Makassar on matchday one of the Shopee Cup 2024/25 Group A. 

Rabbits head coach Makoto Teguramori made 10 changes to his starting XI that lost to Rayong FC in the previous match - with right-back Waris Choolthong the only one to kept his place in the lineup. Pisan Dokmaikaew comes into the team as goalkeeper behind defenders Chanapach Buaphan, Marco Ballini, and Thawatchai Inprakhon. Captaining the team from midfield is Chaowat Veerachart and supported by Airfan Doloh and Freddy Alvarez. Raniel Santana and Sivakorn Tiatrakul take up the left and right wing spot, respectively. Up front is lone striker Ilhan Fandi Ahmad.

The home team in red looked more dangerous at the start of the game but BG Pathum United slowly grew into the game as both teams cancelled each other out.

Midway into the half, Ananda Raehan Alief’s long range effort flew wide of Pisan Dokmaikaew’s right-hand post.

Later, Freddy Alvarez fired a central position freekick off-target with a venomous hit. 

Both clubs head into the changing room at 0-0 and with very few attacking product to show for after 45 minutes.

In the 53rd minute, Latyr Fall carried the ball forward down the left touchline then played a give-and-go pass with Nermin Haljeta. Latyr Fall gets the return ball inside but missed the target with his right-foot attempt.

In the 69th minute, Substitute Ricky Pratama danced past challenges after challenges from BG Pathum United’s players and found his way into the Rabbits box. The wide-forward shoots for the near-post but only manages to hit the side-netting. A bit of sloppy defending from the away team gone unpunished.

BG Pathum United held on the the scoreline and looked lively on the counter-attack but could not find the important goal.

The match ended 0-0 and a point shared between both clubs on matchday one of the Shopee Cup 2024/25.

For the next game, BG Pathum United will face Ratchaburi FC in matchweek 3 of the Thai League 2024/25 season. The game is scheduled for Sunday, 25 August 2024 at Dragon Solar Park Stadium. The kick-off begins at 6:30 PM.
